Pyrum Innovations to break ground on new tire recycling plant in Perl-Besch
Pyrum Innovations AG has scheduled the official groundbreaking ceremony for its new tire recycling plant in Perl-Besch, Germany, for November 14, 2025. The facility, which will be the company's largest to date, is designed to process more than 22,000 tons of end-of-life tires annually and will be fully owned and operated by Pyrum. Once operational, the plant will more than double the company's total recycling capacity.
The Perl-Besch location was selected for its strategic positioning along the Moselle River in the tri-border region connecting Germany, France, and Luxembourg. The site provides multimodal logistics access via rail, road, and river transport, which is expected to facilitate efficient material handling and distribution across the region.
According to the company's announcement, preparatory work is progressing as planned. Site preparations have been completed, long-lead components have been ordered, and the tendering process for civil construction work is currently underway. Pyrum has indicated that commissioning of the facility is scheduled for 2027.
The Perl-Besch plant represents a significant expansion for Pyrum Innovations AG, which has been developing its proprietary thermolysis technology for tire and plastic recycling since 2008. The company's process recovers thermolysis oil and recovered carbon black (rCB), which are supplied to partners including BASF, Continental, and Schwalbe for use in new product manufacturing. Pyrum currently operates its first purpose-built plant at its Dillingen/Saar headquarters, which has been in continuous operation since 2020, with two additional plants added during a 2024 site expansion. The company's products hold REACH and ISCC Plus certifications.
